Welcome to our miniature dachshund doghouse. Mimi and Grampy live here in Lacombe, LA about 45 min. from New Orleans with a variety of mini doxies. We raise each of our doxies in a country setting where they have a lot a yard to run and play. We started raising doxies about 12 years ago. We have enjoyed every day and know that there are many more to come. Each of our dachshunds are raised with family in mind. The doxies are also raised with a good temperament and the ability to socialize with other pets. We have 9 grandchildren. They hold the doxie pups when they are as old as a day and up until they are taken to their new home. The adult dachshunds receive the same attention. On the weekends you can find "our" doxies playing chase in the front yard or snuggling on the sofa with grampy, any of our 9 grandkids, or me. We accept credit cards via paypal ,U.S. money order, western union , and personal checks on deposits only.( deposits are non-refundable) The balance for your new pup is payable by cash, money order, cashiers check, or paypal. For your and our safety, we use PayPal for all transactions, as they are the most recognized and trusted online payment processing company in the world. Pups that are to be shipped need to be paid for by the time they make 7 weeks, please pay by paypal,U. S. money orders, or certified check. I do ship puppies, but at the buyers expense, this includes:a medium crate ,worming, first vaccine, visit to DR.MAHER, DVM, health certificate, and airfare. Smooth Dachshund General InformationThe words ‘dachs’ and ‘hund’ mean ‘badger’ and ‘dog’ in German, hence the name “dachshund” suggests that this is a badger hunting-dog. Although placed in the hound group, this is actually a breed of terriers, as they go to the ground in search of vermin. The standard smooth variety is the oldest Dachshund on record and has been in existence since the early 16th century. All the other coat varieties were developed by cross breeding with wired-coated terriers or field spaniels. The miniatures were developed by selecting and breeding in smaller sized dogs. Miniature Dachshunds were used to hunt rabbits. Their diminutive size enabled them to enter the rabbit’s warren easily. Dachshunds are known for their terrier tenacity but make a very loyal and loving family pet. They can be reserved and defensive if strangers enter their domain. They are very alert and have a powerful and frequent bark when guarding. Miniature Dachshunds make excellent lap dogs.  God made a little dachsie to brighten up our day- He took a bit of sunshine- Laughter, love, and play- and rolled it up in a sausage shape just right for a hug, with bright eyes full of mischief set in its little mug. With little paws a pattering, to take it here and there- and a cold wet nose-but then He thought, "Oh, what about the hair? Shall I make it long and silky, or wiry, that's so sweet, or make it simple, and have it smooth and satiny and neat? And what about the color- how can I pick just one? Shall it be black, or red or brown or dappled, just for fun?" He pondered while He made the world, And all creatures great and small- And then the answer came to Him- "OF COURSE!
